Hamilton police are investigating a Monday night collision that seriously injured a pedestrian in the city.

The incident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. on April 17th when an 18-year-old Hamilton woman was crossing on the west side of the intersection of Mud Street and Winterberry Drive.

A Jeep Wrangler that was turning left from Winterberry onto Mud Street ended up hitting the pedestrian, who was knocked to the ground with a serious head injury.

“The pedestrian was transported to hospital, where she is listed in serious but stable condition,” said police.

Police say the driver of the Jeep, an 18-year-old woman also from Hamilton, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The cause of the collision has not yet been confirmed.

Due to the severity of the injuries, Hamilton police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.
