Woman suffers critical injuries after being struck by vehicle in Mississauga; major road closed

A pedestrian was rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Mississauga early Wednesday morning.

The collision happened at Burnhamthorpe and Cawthra roads at 5 a.m., Peel Regional Police said on X.

The pedestrian, a woman, was taken to hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police said the vehicle and its driver remained at the scene.

Burnhamthorpe Road is closed between Cawthra Road and Westminster Place for the investigation. Police ask drivers to use alternate routes.

Update: The road reopened around noon.
