Woman stabbed to death following a disturbance call in Mississauga

What initially began as reports of a disturbance involving fighting escalated into a homicide case in Mississauga this evening.

Peel Regional Police responded to Glen Erin Drive and Windwood Drive shortly after 6 p.m. for an altercation involving two people.  

Officers say someone was injured, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

Approximately forty-five minutes later police provided an update on the situation.  A woman had died due to a stab wounds.

Officials have not released further details on the victim, including her name, age, and place of residence.

Subsequently, a man was arrested and taken into custody. His picture has not been released at this time.

The circumstances leading to the stabbing are still under investigation, and police have not disclosed the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

There currently is a heavy police presence in the area, with motorists and pedestrians advised to use alternate routes.

This marks the second stabbing for the day in Mississauga.
