A road rage incident in Oshawa on Canada led to a woman being stabbed “multiple times” and her attacker facing several weapons and assault charges.
The incident happened near Lakeview Park at 7:20 p.m., shortly after the City of Oshawa cancelled the Canada Day fireworks show because of bad weather.
Durham Regional Police said a 53-year-old woman was involved in a road rage altercation with a 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, with the young couple deploying bear spray after the 53-year-old pulled out a knife. The suspect subsequently stabbed the younger woman multiple times before fleeing.
Officers arrived on scene and provided medical care before the victim was taken to a Toronto trauma centre in serious but stable condition.
A short time later officers located the suspect and took her into custody without incident.
Arlene Sophia Moore is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
She was held for a bail hearing.
Anyone with cellphone, dashcam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Daddazio of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1705.
