A man has been charged following an alleged sexual assault that took place on a transit bus in Mississauga last month.
Peel Regional Police say the incident happened on Nov. 18 when a man boarded a bus and sat next to a woman he didn’t know.
Investigators allege the man sexually assaulted the woman while the bus was moving, then fled before being arrested by police a short distance away.
Saman Salimianrizi, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with sexual assault and two counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and remains in police custody.
Officers say Salimianrizi is also facing a sexual assault charge with the York Regional Police in connection to a similar incident. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
Anyone with information about the incident, or who believes they may have been a victim, is asked to contact the Peel Regional Police 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Peel Crime Stoppers.
