Woman sexually assaulted after being hired to clean Mississauga home; man charged

A Mississauga man faces sex assault charges after a woman who was hired to clean a home was violently attacked upon her arrival, police say.

The victim was “contacted through an online platform” to provide cleaning services at a Mississauga home on May 6, Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Monday.

The woman arrived at the home and “once inside, it is alleged that the victim was sexually assaulted and threatened,” police said.

Investigators with the Peel police Special Victims Unit arrested a man the following day.

Ravinder Dhaliwal, 27, of Mississauga, is charged with:

• assault
• sexual assault
• sexual assault — strangle
• forcible confinement
• utter threat to cause death or bodily harm

He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.
