Woman runs into house fire to rescue cat from blaze in Brampton

A dedicated pet owner is in hospital after rescuing her cat from a fire in Brampton on Wednesday.
Emergency crews were called to a home near Greenleaf Crescent and Murray Street in Brampton around 11:15 a.m. for reports of a fire.
Peel Regional Police say the blaze was a kitchen fire and when firefighters arrived at the scene they found the house was full of smoke. But after escaping the blaze the woman ran back inside the building to rescue her pet cat, a police spokesperson confirmed to Insuaga.com.
The woman and cat both made it outside and Peel Paramedics said the woman was transported to hospital as a precaution.
Fire crews knocked down the blaze which was brought under control by around 11:45 a.m.
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services says residents can expect road closures in the area until around 3 p.m. Drivers should avoid the area or find alternate routes if possible.
