Woman killed in hit-and-run leads to search for suspect in Mississauga

Investigators are searching for the driver of a white Mercedes that police say crashed into and killed a female pedestrian in Mississauga.

The fatal hit-and-run crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West, Peel Regional Police say.

That’s when a white Mercedes sedan travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West at a high rate of speed struck a female pedestrian in the intersection.

Police say the 38-year-old female victim was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the driver made no attempt to stop and fled the area. The suspect vehicle is believed to have sustained extensive damage to the front end and windshield, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is asked to review dashcam or cellphone footage for any sightings of the suspect vehicle. Police are also asking local body shops to contact investigators if a white Mercedes sedan with similar damage is brought in for repair.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Peel Regional Police by calling 905-453-3311. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.

When you contact Crime Stoppers you stay anonymous, never have to testify, and could receive a $2,000 reward.
