Woman in Brampton struck by hit-and-run driver, roads closed

A woman was hit by a driver late on Friday night in Brampton, resulting in road closures.
At 10:40 p.m., Peel Regional Police learned of the collision in the vicinity of Steeles Avenue and Finch Avenue. The woman who was struck has been taken to a trauma centre with unknown injuries. The driver did not remain at the scene of the crash, which is required under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The Peel police’s major collision bureau is investigating the collision, so drivers should take alternate routes. Reconstructions often take several hours. Steeles Ave. is closed in both directions, while northbound Finch Ave. and southbound Goreway Drive are also closed.
