Police are on the hunt for a Mississauga woman wanted in connection with an attempted murder in the city’s west end on Wednesday in which another woman was stabbed multiple times inside a home.

Investigators with the Peel Regional Police 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have released a photo of the suspect in hopes of tracking her down with help from the public.

Marjja Gjunaj, 38, of Mississauga, is wanted by police on a charge of attempt murder. They have issued a warrant for her arrest.

Police say the victim, a 43-year-old woman also of Mississauga, was stabbed several times inside a home near McLaughlin Road and Eglinton Avenue West on Wednesday afternoon.

Suffering from “significant injuries resulting from multiple stab wounds,” the victim was rushed to hospital, according to police. They say her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

According to police, a second woman quickly fled the area “and is believed to be evading police.”

Gjunaj is further described as 5-foot-5, 160 pounds, with a light complexion, medium-length brown hair and she was last seen wearing a black winter coat.

Police say she should not be approached and that anyone spotting her should call 911.

Anyone who sees her or has information can also call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
