Kourtney Khan has been identified as the second victim in fatal Brampton car crash.

Friends and family members have created a temporary memorial for the two people killed in a recent Brampton car crash.

Flowers, messages and photos of the victims have been placed near the intersection of Queen Street and Chinguacousy Road following the deadly incident that took place in the early hours of Nov. 1.

The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Sukhdev Singh, working a late shift for rideshare service Lyft, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, a passenger in the vehicle who was not discovered until 12 hours later in the backseat of the car at a police impound yard, has now been identified as 20-year-old Kourtney Khan, a realtor who worked out of Brampton and Mississauga.

Khan’s body was only discovered when she was reported missing by family members later that day. A shared tracking device on her phone led police to the accident scene and then later to the impound area, where she was found in the backseat of the wreckage. It is not known if she was killed at the accident scene or succumbed to her injuries later.

Friends have since left messages at the memorial and on social media describing Khan as a compassionate person who was dedicated to her role in the real estate business.

The driver, Sukhdev Singh, had picked up Khan on his final shift and was then going to head home when the crash occurred around 4 a.m.

Singh had been in Canada for two years and worked two jobs to support his family.

A 17-year-old has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand for a blood or drug sample for his role in the incident. He cannot be named because of his age.

Peel Regional Police originally did not acknowledge that Khan’s body was discovered hours after the crash, stating initially that one person had died, then later announcing the second death that turned out to be Khan.

Police have since acknowledged that her body was discovered later when they followed up on the missing person report.
