The woman who was found dead off the shore of Lake Ontario in Ajax more than one year ago has been identified.

Her body was discovered in the lake by Audley Rd. on Feb 12, 2022 and recovered by Durham Regional Police.

She was taken to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy, which found no “obvious signs” of trauma on her body to indicate foul play.

Police could not identify her at the time, but released a description and later a digital reconstruction in an effort to learn who she was.

On March 3, 2023, police announced they had succeeded in identifying the woman.

She is Jaqueline Miller, 57 of Ajax.

Investigators say there remains no indication Miller died due to foul play. However, they request anyone who knew her to come forward.

Anyone with information can call D/Cst. Kapeluk at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5100.
