Woman fatally stabbed in Brampton

A woman is dead after she was stabbed in Brampton.
Peel Regional Police confirmed the stabbing shortly before 7 p.m. on May 19. They said a woman, who they did not describe, had been stabbed near Hummingbird Cr and Cherrytree Dr. This is a residential neighbourhood in the city’s south end.
Police additionally confirmed they have a man in custody, but provided no details about him. With his arrest, investigators said, there was no further threat to public safety. There is a heavy police presence in the area and motorists are advised to avoid it.
