Woman dies in garage fire in St Catharines, Ontario

Investigations are underway into a garage fire behind a St. Catharines home last week, which tragically left a woman dead.

On Monday (March 26) Niagara Regional Police responded to reports of a fire in the area of Division Street and Frank Street.

According to police, investigations revealed that a detached garage at the back of a residence was fully engulfed in flames. The St. Catharines Fire Department arrived at the scene and were able to put out the fire.

A woman was found and pronounced dead as a result of the fire.

Authorities have yet to disclose information about the deceased including her name, age, and place of residence.

Additionally, it remains unclear whether the garage was part of the residential property or a business near the house.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are collaborating with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Coroner’s Office to find answers.

Currently, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to the garage are still undetermined.

Detectives are looking for anyone with information about the fire or who may have been in the area overnight from late March 24 until 7:00 a.m. on March 25.
