A woman has been killed after being hit by a car in Niagara Falls this afternoon (September 23).

Niagara Police say they responded to the scene in the McLeod Road and Pin Oak Drive area today at 1:10 pm and that EMS paramedics did their best to revive her but to no avail.

The same car that hit her also took out a hydro pole, leaving live wires at the scene.

So far, the police have not laid charges and have not identified the deceased woman.

Before any charges are pressed, the police have their NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Services doing further investigation.

McLeod Road is still closed between Montrose Road and Kalar Road as those two units investigate so drivers should avoid the area.
