Woman ‘counts the zeros’ after lottery win in Brampton

A Brampton couple is celebrating after a $100,000 lottery win.

Prabhjot Kaur and Ranjodh Butter of Brampton matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Sept. 24 Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said.

The married couple has been playing the lottery for about three years, and they enjoy playing a variety of games, including Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max and Daily Grand, always adding Encore to their tickets, OLG said.

OLG said this was their first big win, and Kaur wanted to double-check the amount.

“One day, Ranjodh checked our ticket on the OLG app,” Kaur told OLG. “He sent me a screenshot and said, ‘We just won $100,000!’ I counted the zeros — one, two, three, four, five!”

The couple is thrilled about the win.

“I was very happy and couldn’t believe it,” Butter said. “I’m so excited and thankful for this win.”

The couple plans to save their winnings for the future.

The winning ticket was purchased at Husky on County Road 46 in Oldcastle.
