One woman is facing charges and two other people are being hunted by police in connection with a violent east Mississauga carjacking early yesterday morning in which the victim was run over by the fleeing vehicle.

Peel Regional Police say a tip from “an observant citizen” a couple of hours after the 6:45 a.m. carjacking at a Dundas St. E./Haines Rd. area restaurant led them to the stolen Nissan in Mississauga. Police subsequently arrested an occupant of the vehicle.

Central Robbery Bureau investigators say they’re still searching for a man and a woman in connection with the incident that sent the victim, a 38-year-old man, to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police say the man was sitting in his car in the restaurant parking lot when two women approached him and began speaking with him. Moments later, a man opened the driver’s side door and pulled the victim from the car.

The three culprits got in the car and sped away, running over the victim as they fled.

Brittany Lynn Trites, 27, of Barrie, is charged with one count of robbery. She appeared earlier today in Brampton court.
