Hamilton Police are searching for a male culprit after a woman was assaulted yesterday afternoon (May 18) near the encampment at City Hall.

Upon arrival at the encampment, at Hunter St. W. and MacNab St. S., police discovered a woman who had sustained minor injuries, presumably inflicted by an “edged weapon.”

Police are asking area residents, businesses and vehicle owners to review any security surveillance or dashboard camera video, specifically between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. for any suspicious activity.

Police describe the attacker as a Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1 in height, with black wavy shoulder-length hair, a black goatee-style beard and wearing a blue T-shirt and tan-coloured pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-546-3833.
