Woman and child pedestrians hit in Brampton car crash

A woman and young boy have been rushed to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police say the crash happened around 1:40 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 23) in the area of Malta Ave. and Ray Lawson Blvd. Two vehicles were involved in the collision, and police say one of the vehicles struck two people who were standing on a nearby curb before crashing into a tree.

One adult female and a boy were taken to a local hospital and police say the woman suffered serious injuries, and that the boy was conscious and breathing. The drivers of both vehicles also suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said.

Police have closed the intersection at Malta Ave. and Ray Lawson Blvd. while officers are on scene for the collision investigation. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
