UPDATE: Just before 5 p.m., Peel Regional Police said the woman was located in good health and has been returned to her home.

Police and family members of a 93-year-old woman who went missing in Mississauga are concerned for her well-being and are asking for the public’s help in finding her.

Peel Regional Police say Yvonne was last seen at about 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday in the Burnhamthorpe and Dixie roads area of east Mississauga.

She’s further described as having a thin build, short hair and she was last spotted wearing a navy blue winter coat and dark grey pants.

Police say she also has a large cut on the left side of her head.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 905-453-3311.

Under a new policy adopted earlier this year regarding missing persons and what information will be released via social media or to the media, Peel police now only release the given names of missing people when the news release is accompanied by a photo.

Surnames will only be provided if “there is an investigative value to do so,” police say.

Toronto Police and other police forces adopted a similar policy this year as well.
