Witnesses sought after 18-year-old fatally shot in Hamilton

There’s a heavy police presence in Hamilton today (Sept. 25) as officers investigate the city’s 15th homicide of the year.

At 4:35 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, officers responded to a shooting on the sidewalk in the area of Cannon Street East and Barnesdale Avenue North (west of Tim Hortons Field).

“The victim was walking when he was approached by a dark-coloured four-door sedan,” said police. “Multiple shots were fired from the car, striking the victim.”

18-year-old Yua Blut Kaw from Hamilton was transported to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police say they don’t have a description of the suspects at this time.

Officers remain in the area today canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance.
