Projections show that the Liberals’ Lisa Hepfner, who has been vying to represent Hamilton Mountain as a Member of Parliament, has won the seat by a very slim margin.

Global News’ live results election tracker showed on Wednesday (Sept. 22) that the Hamilton-based TV journalist has secured 34 per cent of the votes in the riding while the NDP’s Malcolm Allen garnered 32.4 per cent.

Conservative contender, Al Miles, secured 24.5 per cent of the votes in Hamilton Mountain.

As of Wednesday, Hepfner was just 749 votes ahead of Allen.

According to the tracker, all 155 Hamilton Mountain polls have been reported.

The projection comes in days after the Federal Election, as the tight race was too close to call the day after the polls closed.

Elsewhere in Hamilton, the parties remained the same, but the member of Parliament will be new in Flamborough—Glanbrook and Hamilton East—Stoney Creek.

The CPC’s Dan Muys was elected in F-G, while longtime Hamilton city councillor Chad Collins has been declared elected in the latter riding.

The NDP’s Matthew Green will also be heading back to Ottawa on Hamilton-Centre’s behalf and Liberal cabinet minister Filomena Tassi was also re-elected in west Hamilton.
