Residents in southern Niagara region, including Welland and Niagara Falls, are advised to be cautious when travelling today (Nov. 13).

A winter weather travel advisory is in effect due to heavy and wet lake effect snow affecting southern Niagara near Lake Erie this morning.

“Areas under heavy wet snow may start to see slush building on roads and visibilities suddenly reduced making driving difficult at times. Local snow amounts of 2 to 4 cm is possible,” says Environment Canada.

Those who must travel are advised to expect hazardous conditions and possible low visibility.

The lake effect snow is expected to move south by the afternoon.
