Environment Canada has issued a winter weather advisory for Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills, saying as much as 10cm of snow could fall beginning tomorrow night and lasting into Sunday.

The agency is specifically alerting motorists to potentially dangerous driving conditions during the storm.

“Travel may be hazardous Saturday night and Sunday morning as untreated surfaces are expected to become snow covered and icy,” the advisory states, adding people should adjust travel plans accordingly.

Environment Canada says snow is expected to develop over the areas late Saturday afternoon or early evening and continue into Sunday afternoon with as much as 1-2cm snowfall per hour possible.

Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected by the time the snow comes to an end.

The snow is expected to come from a low pressure system passing south of Lake Erie on Saturday night.

Weather officials say there’s a chance the system could track farther south than expected, which would result in less snow in the GTA.
