A winter weather travel advisory is in effect Tuesday morning (Nov. 30) in the southern Niagara Region.

Environment Canada warns that brief but intense snowfall is expected Tuesday morning.

The weather agency said a band of lake effect snow originating from Lake Erie is expected to move through the region and snowfall rates could be as high as 2 cm per hour in the heaviest bands which could rapidly reduce visibilities to below 1 km at times.

Total snowfall accumulations up to 5 cm are expected before the snow moves out this morning.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to rapidly accumulating snowfall.
