It’s almost time for Brampton residents to get into the holiday spirit at the city’s annual Winter Lights Festival.

While the festival temporarily looked different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the community can once again look forward to an in-person event at the end of the month.

This year’s festival, presented by Fieldgate Developments, will take place on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19.

In partnership with the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation’s Miracle on Main Street, the event will feature a Christmas market, winter lights displays, amusement rides, giveaways and more.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy in support of local Brampton organizations and families who are experiencing poverty.

On Nov. 18, Brampton’s Annual Tree Lighting ceremony, featuring a 60-foot spruce tree decorated with over 10,000 lights, will take place in Ken Whillans Square at 6:45 p.m.

On Nov. 19, there will be a Winter Artist Market presented by the Brampton Arts Organization
Alderlea from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The event will end with the return of the in-person Brampton Santa Claus parade at 5:00 p.m. where residents will be able to welcome him back to the city.

“Downtown Brampton will once again be the place to be as we welcome the start of the holiday season with the annual Winter Lights Festival,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.

“I invite all residents to join us as we light the tree in Ken Whillans Square, shop at the Christmas market to support local vendors, and enjoy everything the festival has to offer, including the arrival of Santa at the Rotary Club’s Santa Claus Parade. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
