Parts of the Niagara Region could see wind gusts of up to 90 km/h on Wednesday (Jan. 5) as a weather system moving through the area is expected to bring high winds.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Niagara Falls, Welland and southern Niagara early Wednesday, ahead of a cold front moving through southern Ontario which brings some blustery weather with it.

The weather agency said strong winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected from the afternoon and into the night.

Residents are warned that power outages may occur and the high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
