Prizes are up for grabs as the City is encouraging youth to get outside and explore Brampton on a scavenger hunt this week.

Monday (May 1) marked the start of National Youth Week, as well as the grand opening of the city’s first Youth Hub. And to celebrate youth week the City is running a scavenger while giving teens and youth a chance to learn about part-time positions working for the Parks Division.

Hunters need to snap pictures at different outdoor locations across the city and submit them online for a chance to win one of three prizes.

Each picture category represents a different position within the Brampton Parks Division:

  • Sports Field Maintenance: Take picture of a sports field near you
  • Parks Keeper: Take a picture of litter in the Park (then throw it away)
  • Landscape Construction: Take a picture of a dedication (tree, bench or plaque)
  • Horticulture: Take a close-up picture of an insect
  • Forestry: Take a picture of a newly planted tree

There’s also a bonus category for “Brampton’s Hidden Gems,” challenging hunters to snap a photo of something that makes the city unique.

The Parks Scavenger Hunt runs until the end of National Youth Week on Sunday (May 7) and participants need to register online. For more information on the scavenger hunt or to sign up visit www.Brampton.ca.

Not that the Youth Hub doors are open, the City is already working on a second youth space planned at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre. The project is currently in design stages with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2024., the City says.

The City has also brought back its free Explore Brampton Youth Pass program this year with 2,000 youth transit and summer drop-in recreation passes up for grabs.

The pass allows youth to take in Brampton Recreation programs and ride Brampton Transit for free during the summer. Applications for the Explore Brampton Youth Pass are open now and the deadline is May 7.
