Will Ron Tripp be announced as the new CAO of Niagara Region at a special council meeting on August 31?

That’s the name being mentioned the most around the regional headquarters these days.

Tripp, the Region’s Commissioner of Public Works, has been the acting CAO and has been since 2018.

At the moment, only the selection committee knows for sure.

The selection committee, made up of councillors Robert Foster, Diana Huson, Wayne Redekop, Albert Witteveen and Regional Chair Jim Bradley, are believed to have made the decision, finally ending the search which has been on since November 2020.

In 2020, the CAO position paid $230,899 annually but that is expected to be bumped up as it is every year.
