Niagara Region will be holding a closed-door meeting on July 12 at 4 pm in their continued search for a new regional CAO (chief administrative officer.)

The selection committee, made up of councillors Robert Foster, Diana Huson, Wayne Redekop, Albert Witteveen and Regional Chair Jim Bradley, are believed to be getting closer to a final candidate. The search has been on since November 2020.

At the moment, Ron Tripp, the Region’s Commissioner of Public Works, is the acting CAO and has been since 2018.

In 2020, the CAO position paid $230,899 annually but that is expected to be bumped up as it is every year.

The CAO position is the top bureaucratic position in any municipality or region as they interact with literally every department.
