A frozen meat and seafood delivery company has opened its first Canadian retail store at the Taunton Garden plaza in Whitby.

Wild Fork, which has numerous stores in the U.S., especially in south Florida, established an online delivery presence earlier this year for its speciality products like Wagyu beef, bison, Berkshire pork or lobster, as well as everyday staples like chicken thighs and ground beef.

The soft launch for the new 4,000 square-foot store in Whitby on Taunton Road was Monday with the grand opening Saturday June 10.

A social media post from Wild Fork President Radek Mazurkiewicz welcomed customers to the space and said the team was excited to be open in Durham Region.

“To our customers in Whitby and beyond, I can’t wait for you to experience the difference that Wild Fork has to offer,” he said. We are confident that you will be delighted.”

The brand launched in Canada on January 19 as an online “protein delivery” business servicing the GTA with same day delivery, with plans to open stores across the country.

The company, which prides itself on offering the largest variety of premium-cut meats and seafood delivered to your door – the products are packed with dry ice to ensure it arrives in optimum condition – is looking at about 20 new locations in the GTA with a hope of opening those stores in the next year or two, followed by growth into B.C. and Alberta.

The Wild Fork store in Whitby will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
