A grocery chain is opening its first-ever Brampton location later this week.
Loblaw announced that Wholesale Club will be opening its doors at 85 Steeles Avenue West, near Hurontario Street, at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
“This new location is dedicated to fueling the success of the city’s diverse food scene, from family-owned restaurants to innovative food businesses,” a news release from Loblaw, which owns the brand, said.
The grocery store, with locations across Canada, sells items in large quantities much like Costco but without the membership fee. Buying in bulk can help save money — particularly for businesses or families.
“Wholesale Club offers no-fee business memberships, business-friendly store hours, and exclusive savings,” the release said.
“From restaurant owners and caterers to convenience stores and institutional food service providers, the Wholesale Club provides more than 7,000 food service products, including multicultural foods, restaurant disposables, and professional-grade kitchen equipment.”
The new store comes after a Wholesale Club in Mississauga shut its doors earlier this year, leaving Peel Region without Wholesale Club location.
That store was ultimately replaced by another grocery chain under the Loblaw brand: No Frills.
The new Brampton store marks a return of Wholesale Club to Peel Region.
