Whitby’s Station Gallery celebrates 50 years

The Station Gallery in Whitby had a full house for their 50th anniversary celebrations Thursday.

The party started at two p,m, and lasted into the night, with an Artisan Market, dance and drum presentations, several musical acts, a live painting by Jason Wilkens and the official unveiling of the SG-in-a-Box mural (name to be determined) completed by renowned artists Bruno Smoky and Chad Tyson.

The Thursday night portion of the event will become a weekly happening at the gallery, with live music, artists, access to the gallery and a cash bar some of the attractions.

Next Thursday the gallery hosts Darren Smith and Shayne Thomas.

Station Gallery, located on Victoria Street at the south end of the Iroquois Park complex, is a non-profit public art gallery offering art classes for all ages and abilities, art exhibitions, family art days and community events.
