Canada celebrates one of Olivia Smith's goals during a 15-0 rout of Martinique

Whitby’s Olivia Smith and the rest of her Canadian U20 teammates have been able to pad their personal stats this past week during the opening two matches of a qualifying tournament for the CONCACAF U-20 championships.

Canada hammered CONCACAF minnows Martinique (15-0) and St. Vincent and the Grenadines (12-0) in the first two games of the tournament, with Smith, who became the youngest player ever capped by Canada’s senior national team in 2019 at the age of 15, scored hat-tricks in both games.

Smith, who just completed her first year on an athletic scholarship at Penn State University, scored twice from the penalty spot and scored her third from long-range before the St. Vincent match was 30 minutes old.

Canada, which plays Cuba Thursday and El Salvador Saturday, needs to win the group to advance to the CONCACAF U20 Championships in Dominican Republic May 24-June 3.
