Whitby Warriors one win away from qualifying for Minto Cup junior championships

The Whitby Warriors are one home win away from a spot in the Minto Cup national junior ‘A’ lacrosse championships.
The Warriors, who disposed of the St. Catharines Athletics in three straight in the opening round of the OJLL playoffs, have found the going tougher against Orangeville, the Minto Cup defending champions, in the league semi-finals, with both teams taking care of business on their home rink.
Game five is tonight at 8 p.m. at Iroquois Park.
The other semi-final, pitting Toronto Beaches (who are playing their home games at the Chestnut Hills Development Recreation Centre in Pickering) against the Burlington Chiefs, is also headed for a deciding Game five tonight in Pickering.
The winners of the semi-finals will play in a best-of-three series to decide the league title, but both will also automatically qualify for the Minto Cup, which will be held this year in Brampton. The two OJLL representatives will be joined by teams from the British Columbia and Rocky Mountain leagues
Orangeville won the last title in 2019, their seventh. Whitby Warriors have been crowned national champions six times.
