Whitby resident dies from COVID-19 – twenty-three new cases reported in Durham

There were 23 new COVID-19 cases in Durham Region yesterday, including one death of a Whitby resident.

Clarington reported eight of the new cases, with five coming from Oshawa and four each from Pickering and Ajax. Whitby recorded two new cases. There are two people in hospital with the virus and one in ICU.

There are still 10 outbreaks in Durham schools and day cares and two workplace outbreaks.

The good news is the number of active cases dropped from 179 to 165 and the total of fully vaccinated Durham residents 12-and-over is now at 79.1 per cent.
