A man from Whitby was arrested in an Ajax plaza again shortly after he was picked up the first time.

Omar Jarrett, 36 of Whitby, was among the six men arrested in Harwood Plaza in downtown Ajax in the course of an October to December Durham Regional Police drug investigation.

According to police, Jarrett was among four of the people they arrested on drug charges alongside three others from Ajax. However, the police did not specify the charges at the time.

Police announced they had arrested Jarrett for a second time on January 11. This was the same day police made his first arrest public.

Around 3 p.m. officers on patrol noticed Jarrett in the plaza, even though the conditions of his release forbade him from being there. The officers moved to arrest Jarrett and say they found cash and cocaine on him.

Jarrett stands charged with possession of cocaine with intent to traffic, breaching release conditions and failure to provide identification on top of the charges from his earlier arrest.

He will now remain in custody until a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about Jarrett’s activities can call police at  1-888-579-1520 ext. 2585 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at  1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
