Whitby Garden Tour is this Saturday and it’s free

Those looking for gardening inspiration can take a tour in Whitby this weekend.
The Whitby in Bloom Garden Tour is back. The event, in partnership with the Town of Whitby, includes 11 gorgeous gardens.
Locations this year include Cullen Central Park, the Lynde House and nine other private residences.
Many may remember Cullen Central Park as the home of Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village. The property has now been transformed into a garden with mature trees, walking paths and an area dedicated to first responders living with PTSD. A bronze statue of Len Cullen, the founder of the gardens, is in the centre of the park.
At Lynde House, visitors can check out Clarissa Lynde’s Heritage Kitchen Garden, which features heritage vegetables, medicinal herbs and plants used to make dyes for fabric.
Private homes explode with blooms such as dahlias, lilies, cosmos, poppies and hydrangeas. One home has a collection of mosaic art. Another stop on the tour is a historic 1857 home.

The garden tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free and does not require pre-registration. But lieu of a tour fee, visitors can bring a non-perishable food items for local food banks.
