Whitby driver caught speeding 204 km/hr on Hwy 401 in Ajax

A man has been charged for driving at double the speed on Hwy 401 in Ajax last night.

On Saturday (May. 6) at approximately 5:30 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at 204 km/h on Hwy 401 / Salem Rd in Ajax.

The OPP Highway Safety Division say that they stopped the car and charged a 28-year-old man from Whitby for stunt driving.

The driver had his license suspended for 30 days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.

According to police, drivers caught speeding and stunt driving can face a number of penalties, including a license suspension, vehicle being impounded and fines up to $10,000.

In more serious/repeat offender cases, jail time is a possibility.
