While it’s improving, Mississauga and Brampton still have the worst COVID-19 percent positivity in the province

Numbers are slowly improving, but Peel Region (including Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon) currently remains the region with the worst COVID-19 percent positivity rate (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.
Toronto-based research group ICES ranked all 34 public health units in Ontario based on their percent positivity for the week of February 7 to 13.
Peel tops the list at 6.0%, followed by Toronto at 4.8% and York at 4.7%.
Ontario overall is listed eighth at 2.7%.
Peel also topped the list for the week of January 31 to February 6 at 7.0%, making that at least two weeks in a row where it had the highest COVID-19 percent positivity in the province.

ICES says percent positivity reflects both the number of COVID-19 cases diagnosed and the number of people who were tested, and the numbers may fluctuate based on these factors.
The same data for the week shows that of the 50 areas in Ontario with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity, four are in Mississauga and six are in Brampton.
