For years now, Mat Siscoe has happily gobbled down flapjacks for a great cause at the Annual Toque Tuesday Mayor’s Pancake Breakfast in St. Catharines.

However, when the event lands at Market Square tomorrow (Feb. 7) at 7 am, he’ll be hosting for the first time ever as the city’s mayor.

The event, which raises funds for eviction prevention through Community Care’s of St. Catharines and Thorold Housing Help Program, is a unique combination of two very different things – pancakes and toques.

However, there is a connection. One, everyone loves pancakes. And two, it’s February in St. Catharines – who couldn’t use a “Raising The Roof” toque?

The $20 admission gets you both so you’ll leave with a full stomach and warm ears.

Siscoe won’t be the breakfast’s only star. Joney, the owner of the Sunset Grill at 525 Welland Ave. and his team will cook as many as 600 pancakes to raise money for the charity group.

It runs from 7 am to 9 am at Market Square (91 King St) and is open to the public.
