What’s Open and Closed on Christmas Day in Brampton

This year, because Christmas Day is on a Sunday, some closures in Brampton will extend into the start of the following week.

Below is a list of what is open and closed in Brampton on Christmas Day — Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022:


All critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services, will continue to operate on Christmas Day.

  • Gore Meadows Covered Outdoor Skating Rink, Chinguacousy Park Skate Recreational Trail, Gage Park Outdoor Skating Recreational Trail, and Mount Pleasant Outdoor Skating Rink
  • Brampton Transit will be running on a reduced schedule
  • Some restaurants will be open for dine-in and/or takeout. Residents are encouraged to call ahead
  • Some drug stores such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall will be open. Check individual stores for hours

Halton – Oakville, Milton, Burlington
Niagara – St Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland 
Durham – Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering


Most City of Brampton offices and City Hall will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23, until Tuesday, Jan. 3.

All Brampton Library Branches will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 24, until Tuesday, Dec. 27.

  • Bramalea City Centre
  • Shopper’s World
  • All major grocery stores (i.e. Metro, Longo’s)
  • All major malls
  • Government offices
  • Banks
  • Community Centres
  • LCBO, Beer Store, and Wine Rack
  • Federal Government offices
  • City Hall
  • Canada Post (no mail pick-up or delivery)


  • Brampton Transit will operate on a reduced schedule
  • GO Transit will run on a Sunday schedule
  • Brampton Transit Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, are closed from Dec. 23 at 12:00 p.m. until Jan 2. The Transit Service Centres and Contact Centre will be closed on Dec. 25.

Garbage collection in Peel:

  • No garbage and recycling collection on Monday, Dec. 26. Pickup will be one day later rest of the week
  • Community Recycling Centres closed on Dec. 25-26
