What’s open and closed on Canada Day in Brampton

With Canada Day falling on a Friday in 2022, it’s a good idea to get an idea of what’s open and closed in Brampton before gearing up for some shopping or recreation.

Here’s what is open and closed this long weekend:



Open:

  • Some smaller grocery and convenience stores
  • Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations
  • Some restaurants will be open for dining, but call ahead to be sure
  • Bramalea City Centre will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but some stores and restaurants might be closed
  • Brampton Recreation Centres will be open according to modified hours of operation on Canada Day. Holiday hours can be viewed online.
  • Three Beer Stores in Brampton will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day:
    198 Queen St. E
    180 Sandalwood Pkwy
    80 Peel Centre Dr.

Other major malls that are open:

  • Toronto Premium Outlets (9:30 am to 7:00 p.m.)
  • Square One (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
  • Eaton Centre (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
  • Pacific Mall (11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

Closed:

  • Shoppers World Brampton
  • Walmart Supercentres
  • Banks
  • Community Centres
  • LCBO
  • Government offices (all levels)
  • City Hall
  • All Brampton Library locations
  • Brampton Animal Shelter
  • Canada Post (there will be no mail pick-up or delivery)
  • Region of Peel offices and non-emergency services, including such as Access Peel Counters, Early Years and Child Care Services, Family Health Call Centre, Healthy Sexuality Clinic, Needle Exchange Program
  • Peel Community Recycling Centres

Other Major Malls That Are Closed:

  • Sherway Gardens
  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre
  • Erin Mills Town Centre
  • Heartland Town Centre

Transit:

Brampton Transit will be operating on a Sunday or Holiday schedule on Canada Day.

Customer Service counters at the terminals are closed, but the Contact Centre is available to assist from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Brampton Transit will be providing free shuttle bus services to and from the Canada Day celebration at Chinguacousy Park between 12:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. You can hop on a free shuttle bus from one of the following four locations:

  • Mount Pleasant GO Station
  • Trinity Common Mall
  • Sheridan College
  • Gore Meadows Community Centre

Go Transit will run on a Sunday schedule. Be sure to check schedules for specific route information.


Fireworks

Canada Day is one of only four days every year where fireworks are allowed to be set off on private property in Brampton without the need for a permit.
