Hamilton Boxing Day: What’s open and closed

Published December 19, 2022 at 7:00 am

Typically, Boxing Day signals a mad rush to the malls, electronics stores, and retailers to scoop up some hot deals. With COVID-19 restrictions no longer in place, and despite many people doing their shopping online, consumers are still expected to line up well before midnight.

This year, Boxing Day falls on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022; however, because Christmas falls on a weekend, some businesses and services will also observe Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, as a holiday.

FUN FACT: It is called “Boxing Day” because, starting in medieval Britain, servants would be given the day after Christmas off, and they would receive a gift box on this day.
