What’s open and closed on Canada Day in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Region

Canada Day in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Region falls on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

Some places that are typically open will be closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and there will be no major public events due to physical distancing restrictions and bans on large gatherings.

Outdoor gatherings of more than 25 people will not be permitted by the Province of Ontario.

Indoor gatherings of more than five people will not be permitted.

That being said, there are still ways you can enjoy the holiday this year in Halton.

Here’s what is open and closed this long weekend:

What’s open and closed Canada Day, July 1:


  • Most restaurants that operate on holidays will be open but call ahead to be sure and remember that restaurants are only permitted to provide takeout, delivery and outdoor patio seating with up to six people per table
  • Rabba grocery stores
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts
  • Toronto Premium Outlets (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Three Beer Store locations (236 Guelph St. in Georgetown and 2025 Guelph Line and 5051 New St. in Burlington from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Residents are reminded that while indoor shopping malls have been allowed to reopen, they still cannot allow people to eat or drink indoors

  • Square One (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Bramalea City Centre (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. to 6 pm..)
  • Eaton Centre (11 a.m. to 7 pm.)
  • Pacific Mall


  • Burlington Centre
  • Oakville Place
  • Milton Mall
  • Activities and customer service hours at pools, arenas, and community centres will vary in Burlington, Milton, and Oakville
  • Banks
  • LCBO locations
  • Most Beer Store locations
  • Government offices
  • Garbage and recycling (blue box, green bin and yard waste) will be collected one day later


  • Burlington and Oakville will operate on a Sunday or holiday schedule
  • Milton will not operate
