What’s open and closed Boxing Day in Oakville, Burlington, and Milton

Published December 19, 2022 at 8:00 am

Believe it or not, this statutory holiday is called “Boxing Day” because, starting in Medieval Britain, servants had a day off and would receive a gift box.

This year, Boxing Day falls on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022. Because Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, some businesses and organizations will close on Tuesday, Dec. 27, for an observed Boxing Day holiday.
