Christmas Day Mississauga 2025: What’s Open and Closed

What's open and closed in MIssissauga

Christmas Day falls on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 and most businesses, organizations and stores in Mississauga will be closed that day — but not all.

Whatever you’re doing for the holidays this year, whether it includes travelling, staying at home or a little bit of both, please do so safely.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed on Christmas Day in Mississauga:

Open:

  • Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba
  • Most convenience stores
  • Mississauga Chinese Centre (888 Dundas St. E.): some stores and restaurants
  • Some restaurants at the Chinese Centre (Burnhamthorpe and Creditview roads)
  • Most Shoppers Drug Mart stores
  • Celebration Square ice rink (noon to 6 pm, weather permitting)
  • Some restaurants are open, including Mandarin and Mado at Square One, but call ahead to be sure
  • Movie theatres
  • Wine Rack (MCity 12 noon-8 p.m.)

Closed:

  • Square One Shopping Centre
  • Erin Mills Town Centre
  • Dixie Outlet Mall
  • Sheridan Centre
  • Meadowvale Town Centre
  • Most major malls outside of Mississauga, including Bramalea City Centre, Toronto Premium Outlets, Vaughan Mills, Sherway Gardens, Yorkdale and the Eaton Centre
  • Most major grocery stores such as Metro, Loblaws, Longo’s and Whole Foods Square One
  • Heartland Town Centre and other power centres
  • Government offices (including City Hall)
  • Banks
  • Libraries
  • Community Centres
  • LCBO
  • The Beer Store
  • Canada Post (no mail pickup or delivery Dec. 25)
  • Mississauga 311 — Citizen Contact Centre (closed Dec. 25-26)
  • The following Region of Peel services, except where otherwise indicated, will close starting Thursday, Dec. 25 and will reopen on Jan. 2, 2025:
    • Service Peel Counters
    • Dental Services Contact Centre and clinics
    • Early Years and Child Care Services
    • Housing Services, Client Services
    • Income and social supports
    • All healthy sexuality clinics will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 26, and Thursday, Jan. 1
    • Needle Exchange Program and Harm Reduction – Mobile Van (closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1)
    • For urgent homelessness supports including food, supplies, referrals and shelter, call the Street Helpline 24/7 at 1-877-848-8481. For information on emergency shelter, visit the emergency shelter web page or call 905-450-1996
    • For emergency Peel Living maintenance requests, call the 24-hour request line at 905-790-7335

Garbage collection:

  • No garbage and recycling collection on Thursday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Dec. 26. Pickup will be two days later rest of the week
  • Community Recycling Centres closed on Dec. 25-26

Transit:

  • MiWay will operate on a regular Sunday service schedule on Dec. 25 and on a regular Saturday service schedule on Dec. 26 (check online or call for info)
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule Dec. 25 and 26
  • TransHelp — all trips for Dec. 25-27 must be booked by 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 (buses will operate 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 25-26). TransHelp office closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 1, reopening Jan. 2
