Drivers who regularly travel along Hwy. 407 in Mississauga may have seen wooden posts on the side of the road for several months.

The posts are simple wood structures and were the subject of a conversation on the Mississauga sub-Reddit thread. People were wondering why they were there and for how long.

The posts are temporary wooden structures installed to support work for Hydro One upgrades, a spokesperson for Hydro One tells insauga.com.

Hydro One is upgrading the transmission lines that run between Richview Transmission Station (TS) in Etobicoke and Trafalgar TS in Milton.

The upgrades will provide more power for the growing number of homes and businesses in the region.

The project started in early 2022 and is anticipated to be completed by mid-2024, the spokesperson says.

The temporary wooden structures will support the new lines while they restrung and are used at road crossings to ensure the safety of the public and crews while the work is underway.

They will be removed once the project is complete.
