Westbound lanes on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) have reopened in Burlington following a fatal collision earlier this morning that resulted in the closure.

Ontario Provincial Police closed the QEW in both directions between Brant Street and Guelph Line due to a serious multi-vehicle crash.

Police confirmed the death of two females following the collision.

Three people were also sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A total of four cars were involved in the collision prompting investigators to estimate a lane closure that would last between six to eight hours.

The estimated time for the eastbound lanes to reopen is still between two and three hours.
