Welland man charged with drug and firearm related offences

Niagara Regional Police Service have charged a 24-year-old Welland man with several offences following a threats complaint in the City of Niagara Falls early Friday morning.
On Thursday (Apr. 6) at approximately 11:11 p.m., police responded to a threats complaint in the City of Niagara Falls.
Police say they attended a motel located on Lundy’s Lane / Durrmond Rd and further investigations determined that the man arrived at the motel and tried to enter the property with a Caine Corso breed dog.
Officers say when the man was told the dog was not welcome in the motel, he became upset and allegedly forced the dog to lunge at the victim while verbally threatening to have the dog attack and cause serious injury to the victim.
The suspect then left the property with the dog in what is described as a black or grey Mazda prior to the arrival of officers.
On Friday (Apr. 7) at approximately 1:00 a.m., police located the Mazda parked in the area of Victoria Ave / Walnut St in Niagara Falls where the suspect and the dog were inside the vehicle asleep.
Officers say shortly after, the man was arrested for uttering a threat. A search of his car was carried out which led to the discovery and seizing of items including:
- Methamphetamine
- Fentanyl
- A loaded .45 revolver handgun
- $115 CDN currency
23-year-old Kyle Thomas Adams, of Welland has been arrested and charged with criminal offences including possession of substance for trafficking – Opioid / Fentanyl, property obtained by crime under $5000, and possession of restricted firearm with ammunition.
Adams was held in custody to appear at a video bail hearing to the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton on Apr. 7, 2023.
